Why would they do this? What are the benefits to switching?

What are they thinking??? If it's a matter of not enough room at the Junior High and too much room at the High School wouldn't it make more sense to move the 7th or 8th graders (or both) over to the high school?

...if it has anything to do with the number of rooms that are capable of supporting technology. Due to recent renovations, the middle school (as I understand it) is a bit more up to date than the high school in this respect.

Well, call me old fashioned but the High School is nostalgic. I graduated from there and just the thought of graduating from the Middle School just does not sound appealing. The High School is a beautiful school and that is history in the making when you graduate from there. I personally do not like the idea at all. Like I said, call me old fashioned.

I'm with Terri! I graduated in 1978 and only come HOME twice a year. I love to drive by the high school. That is the only school that can truly be Mexico Academy! As Far as room... I went to the high school from 7-12th grades! the seventh and eigth graders were kept pretty much to one side of the building unles we were going to lunch, or gym (or I was sneaking down to visit my dad in the shop!) It would be disheartening to think of "Fravor Road" (which, by the way I went to for third to sixth grades) as the high school!

I agree about the High School being The Academy. I was back visiting this past weekend, and it's such a beautiful building. When I lived across the street, I used to sit on the porch on Sundays. You would be surprised at the number of people who stopped to take a picture of that building. Making it the middle school somehow takes away from the history. |

I live in Scottsdale, Az and many High Schools in the East Valley, are only 10th-12th grades. The freshman are considered still Jr High.
Just remember change is good.
I am 3rd generation graduating for Mexico High School.
I moved away so my children would have more opportunities. As an alumni living away, I can clearly see the High School is land locked.
